Anyone know the recipe for Asda Golden Ale (Shepherd Neame)
Have been starting to drink this from asda as i like it ,usually more of a stout and lager drinker and was wondering if this can be easily cloned ??? If it can please can some one work out a recipe for me so i can step up from kits ( hoping it would be a easy first all grain brew ) or do you think i would need a couple of other recipe under my belt before i try this

Re: Anyone know the recipe for Asda Golden Ale (Shepherd Neame)
I haven't tried it - I'm not usually a fan of Shep Neame, although I did buy a bottle of the London Porter a while ago and that wasn't bad. It looks like its not a million miles from Spitfire - the recipe for that is here: viewtopic.php?p=2529#2529.
Going by the proportions you've given, I'd go for a recipe something like:
4200g Pale Malt
210g Crystal Malt
23g Target(11%AA)/50g Goldings(5%AA) - 60min boil
30g Goldings(5%AA) - 15mins
20g Goldings(5%AA) - 0mins
Safale-04 yeast
OG: 1044-45
IBUs: 40
That should give you a nice hoppy bitter, hopefully similar to what you're aiming for. It would also be quite a simple 1st all grain, and if you use goldings as your bittering hop you would neatly use up a 100g pack.
Feel free to tweak the recipe and change the hops or whatever you decide. Good luck with your 1st all grain!
