I want to brew an English IPA and was wondering what the hops are used for Thornbridge Jaipur IPA?

Might be worth scanning their website if you haven't already. It at least reveals they get their hops from Charles Faram, so maybe he knows :wink:

I've had this from the cask only at beer festivals and it never fails to impress, I had some bottled this weekend
and it didn't match up imo, it seems softer and slightly buttery, still good though. Don't hold me to this but I seem to
remember reading it is Chinook, Centennial and ahtanum. :wink:

Alright big fella, I've heard that need f*ck loads of late hops (I've heard Nelson Sauvingnon (sp) ) are the key. Cool your wort to 75C (unsure of what that is in old money) and then throw in a metric boat load of hops and leave for 30 minutes. That equals great aroma.

You would be quite correct, those are the hops used in the Jaipur. Its pale malt and a touch of vienna malt.

Hi Stonechat, talking to the head brewer at Thornbridge recently, he described my final additions in the Bombay IPA as being "insane". :lol:

I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of the brewers a few weeks ago and sampling Jaipur for the first time and it is a cracking beer and there was definitely some similarites to Bombay but I had to use a couple of different hops because I just couldn't get all of them. I took my last bottle of Bombay for them to try and they liked it which was a relief!! I was a bit nervous about it :oops:

If you're interested in my recipe it's here, near the bottom of the page "Bombay IPA"

My hop Substitutions:
Chinook = Northern Brewer
Ahtanum = Amarillo (or Cascade)

The hop amounts used were an educated guess but I might have gone a bit mad with the last additions :lol: Loads of aroma!
