Jaipur IPA
Jaipur IPA
I want to brew an English IPA and was wondering what the hops are used for Thornbridge Jaipur IPA?
Re: Jaipur IPA
Might be worth scanning their website if you haven't already. It at least reveals they get their hops from Charles Faram, so maybe he knows

Re: Jaipur IPA
I am also watching this thread like a hawk - not tried Jaipur but sounds lubly!
Re: Jaipur IPA
If anyone on Jim's is going to have the gen on the hop bill for Jaipur it will be Scarer

Re: Jaipur IPA
I've had this from the cask only at beer festivals and it never fails to impress, I had some bottled this weekend
and it didn't match up imo, it seems softer and slightly buttery, still good though. Don't hold me to this but I seem to
remember reading it is Chinook, Centennial and ahtanum.

Re: Jaipur IPA
it was featured on the Oz Clarke & James May programme. have a look on BBC iplayer - think it was episode 1 or 2. might give some tips.
Re: Jaipur IPA
Alright big fella, I've heard that need f*ck loads of late hops (I've heard Nelson Sauvingnon (sp) ) are the key. Cool your wort to 75C (unsure of what that is in old money) and then throw in a metric boat load of hops and leave for 30 minutes. That equals great aroma.
Re: Jaipur IPA
You would be quite correct, those are the hops used in the Jaipur. Its pale malt and a touch of vienna malt.Scooby wrote:I've had this from the cask only at beer festivals and it never fails to impress, I had some bottled this weekend

Re: Jaipur IPA
Hi Stonechat, talking to the head brewer at Thornbridge recently, he described my final additions in the Bombay IPA as being "insane".Stonechat wrote:If anyone on Jim's is going to have the gen on the hop bill for Jaipur it will be Scarer

I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of the brewers a few weeks ago and sampling Jaipur for the first time and it is a cracking beer and there was definitely some similarites to Bombay but I had to use a couple of different hops because I just couldn't get all of them. I took my last bottle of Bombay for them to try and they liked it which was a relief!! I was a bit nervous about it

Re: Jaipur IPA
If you're interested in my recipe it's here, near the bottom of the page "Bombay IPA"

My hop Substitutions:
Chinook = Northern Brewer
Ahtanum = Amarillo (or Cascade)
The hop amounts used were an educated guess but I might have gone a bit mad with the last additions
Loads of aroma!
