Tinned fruit for raspberry wheat?

Post by bob3000 » Sun May 13, 2012 10:00 am

I am thinking of making a quick/cheap and easy wheat beer. 50/50 wheat malt/larger malt, 18ibu and mauribrew wheat bear yeast.
I was thinking to tart it up a bit by throwing in some fruit. I've seen some american recipes where they use tinned fruit puree. So, I found some tins of raspberry in light syrup. The ingredients are raspberries, water,sugar,glucose/fructose, colour:anthocyanins. I think i'll drain off the syrup before i use it.

Will this work? anyone got experience of using tinned fruit in beer?

Can't see any problems with it, should work fine. I would prob just check a pack frozen rasberrys in instead though, much cheaper and a lot closer to adding fresh berries. Worked a treat with my summer berry mead(asda value frozen summer berrys)!

I did get a pack of frozen summer berries. Might throw them in as well.
