I've made something really similar and it is a lovely drop.

I never tried simco, because it's usually quite hard to get hold of, but now the new crop is in I might give it a try.

I heard it's grapefruit and piney like chinook, but I'm not keen on chinook late on in the brew. How does it compare to chinook.

BTW Brodington 58 IBU seems a bit high for a 1046 OG beer. I would cut that back to 46 IBU max unless you like it very bitter.

I do like em very bitter. After 65AG brews this is one of the tamest beers I have made.

I'm looking for something crisp and dry and bitter.

Just realised I should call this Summer Simcoe Smash.

Your taste buds must be knackered mate! I was up your way not so long ago. Loving the Rooster beers -Yankey, Wild Mule etc all good APAs. Nice to have that on your doorstep.

Any how simco versus chinook. I'm still not sure whether to go for a simco smash. What do you reckon?

Well I'm doing a Simcoe Smash.... in my opinion outs very different to Chinook. Far more along the cascade centennial lines.

Rosters are right on my doorstep. Terms to overlook them for magic rock / brew dog/ American beers at my local.

I used Simcoe later in the last batch and it is maybe a bit too low IBU wise. The flavour though is massive passion fruit. Not so much piney as I have seen mentioned though but still a lovely summer beer.
