This one took second place in a Pale Ale contest last October. It's not a SMASH, though.

You could use a little less Magnum where I used Hallertau.
SEYMOUR EL REY A.P.A.
5 US gallon all-grain batch

GRAINBILL
80.5% = 7.5 lbs = 3400 g, Pale
7.5% = .7 lb = 318 g, Wheat Malt
5% = .47 lb = 213 g, Crystal Malt
3.5% = .33 lb = 150 g, UK CaraMalt (substitute Munich if you must)
3.5% = .33 lb = 150 g, CaraPils/Dextrine/Mild Malt

MASH at 148°F/64°C for 60 min

HOPS for 60 min boil
.5 oz = 14 g, El Dorado, First Wort Hops
.5 oz = 14 g, El Dorado, 15 min
.5 oz = 14 g, Hallertau, 15 min
3 oz = 85 g, Citra, dry-hopped post-fermentation for 1 week

YEAST
American Ale yeast, fermented at 64°F/18°C. Yes, you caught me using Chico. Shhhh!

STATS
OG: 1053
FG: 1011
ABV: 5.4%
IBU: 36
Colour: light golden amber

I brewed a magnum and wai-iti pale ale as I couldn't find the other hops the brewday was a bit of a pain had a bit of a stuck mash but got through that then forgot the Irish moss. Hope it will still turn out ok though. Cheers paddy.

Be interested to hear what you make of the NZ Wai-iti, as I've got some in the freezer.

Cheers

I'm sure it will be more than ok. Nothing wrong with a hazy, flavourful beer. Cheers!
