just thought I would share only the 2nd recipe that I have devised myself. It has been brewing since 25/5 and I tested a sample earlier today and it is down to 1.010 from 1.044. Going to leave it a couple more days to see if it goes down any further and then crash cool it for 5 days.
As I believe is customary, I had ot taste the sample jar and it was really nice. If the finished product turns out better than the sample I'll be very happy!
I got 29l out of this at 1.044, was aiming for 25l but must have extracted more sugars than I thought, not going to complain at all. I BIAB and dunk sparge.
4.2kg Pale malt
100g Crystal
100g Amber
150g Torrified Wheat
50g Flaked Maize
40g Goldings 90min boil
10g chinook 90min boil
20g Fuggles 15min boil
10g Fuggles flame out
Irish Moss
Yeast was from a local brewery, used this type a few times before and always had good results.
I'm not sure what the flaked maize adds to the recipe, but I had some from another brew and thought I would chuck some in there.
Will add some pics on bottling day.
C & C's very welcome

Re: Summer Ale
Your recipe sounds nice. I've only just started formulating my own recipes and incidentally I'm after a nice light summer beer. Look forward to seeing some pics of your brew.
Re: Summer Ale
Pic of the sample jar, og is now stable so have set the fridge to cool it right down. Hopefully will be bottling at the weekend.

Re: Summer Ale
I'm quite impressed considering my home made hop filter clogged and I ended up using a jug to get the wort to the FV!
There was so much break material etc in the bottom of the FV when it was brewing, but it tastes good and if it is that clear in the glass I'll be very happy.
