Green IPA

Post by JabbA » Sat Sep 26, 2015 6:49 pm

My hops are ready to harvest and I've put together the following for this years Green Hop beer. Working on the rough rule of thumb of that fresh hops weigh ~4 x dried, there's going to be a hole load of hops going in!

I like what Amber brings to English beers, not sure on the addition in an IPA though?

I strongly recommend 3% or less Amber Malt in this context. If you go with my maximum 3%, don't overdo it with Crystal Malt too, or the complex grainbill might overpower all the yummy green hop goodness.

Maybe something like: 94% Pale, 1.5% Crystal Malt, 1.5% Amber Malt, 3% Flaked Oats?

Best of luck, whatever you choose.

My last IPA was: 3% Amber & 97% Pale. Turned out exactly as I wanted, a classic English IPA.

What hop variety/s do you have?
