Hi all
Looking for a 5 gallon recipe to get me close to hobgoblin...need to brew soon for xmas..
any help please ...not adverse to kits either !!!!

have a search around for orfy's hobgoblin recipe, probably via homebrewtalk.com. seems to be accepted as very good. and seems like it's gonna get you close to the original version, which is a bonus - i miss it..

be interested to hear what you brew and how it comes out!

This is the one I followed and thought it tasted exactly the same as Hobgoblin. This and Punk IPA have been the best AG brews I've done.

Fermentable Colour Grams

Chocolate Malt 1050 EBC 115 grams
Crisp Maris Otter 5.5 EBC 5200 grams
Crystal Malt 135 135 EBC 470 grams

Hop Variety Type Alpha Time Grams

Golding Whole 6.9 % 60 mins 15 grams
Fuggle Whole 5.5 % 60 mins 15 grams
Styrian Goldings Whole 5.3 % 10 mins 25 grams
Cascade Whole 6.49 % 10 mins 10 grams

Final Volume: 23 Litres
Original Gravity: 1.054
Final Gravity: 1.014
Alcohol Content: 5.2% ABV
Total Liquor: 34.1 Litres
Mash Liquor: 14.5 Litres
Mash Efficiency: 70 %
Bitterness: 25 EBU
Colour: 65 EBC

Yeast: Safale S04

I did the same recipe as alexlark and put into a cornie on Sunday - tasted nice then and hoping to do a compare in a week or two. Hobgoblin is a good beer.
