Weatheroak Hill Brewery / Sunshine Marmalade 4.7%
Hi all, just thought I'd share this one as it's a one off brew. It'll be round Birmingham, Worcester and surrounding festivals this summer, I don't mind giving the recipe away. Into cask yesterday and it tastes awesome.
It's a golden hoppy beer with a full body, and a sort of light vinous orangey finish. It's not full on orange, but very fruity.
Mash @ 68
23L batch
1.048 - 1.012
33 IBU
60 minute boil
mash @ 68c
4.65kg Maris Otter
0.25kg Caramalt
23g Admiral @ 60 (33 IBU)
55g bitter orange peel @ flame out
140g Mandarina Bavaria pellets @ day 4 dry hop, 6 days
Us-05 yeast

well this hit the bar today and it's bloody awesome! really citrussy and quite sweet, nicely balanced erring on bitter and very popular so far. not sure our limited supply is going to last as long as I thought

What’s the SRM of the caramalt ? That’s a recipe I can get behind or even adapt to some other hops I have

Afraid not on city centre! Just getting ready for the general release...
TheSumOfAllBeers - think it's 30 odd ebc? Very light anyway. Sub with caragold if need be..

Anyone brewed this ?
Re: Weatheroak Hill Brewery / Sunshine Marmalade 4.7%
Not brewerd it yet but it is on the list. Re orange peel, I would suggest it means the stuff you can get at Malt Miller etc...

Thanks Digby, I think that’s too dear for a trial batch , think I’ll try it with fresh peel. It’ll be my next brew .
Re: Weatheroak Hill Brewery / Sunshine Marmalade 4.7%
If using fresh peel i would up the quantity compared to the dry stuff. I would at least double it to start with and see how it goes.Touchstone wrote:Thanks Digby, I think that’s too dear for a trial batch , think I’ll try it with fresh peel. It’ll be my next brew .

Re: Weatheroak Hill Brewery / Sunshine Marmalade 4.7%
I used to brew another recipe with fresh peel, I used 10% of the wort volume in Kg. Ie 200L was 20kg of oranges peeled, so 2kg of oranges in 20L peeled and plenty of fresh juice for breakfast the next few days.
