Maltmillers Timothy Taylor's Landlord Kit

Post by floydmeddler » Fri Oct 07, 2022 4:37 pm

When deciding to brew something English recently I stumbled upon this all grain kit on the MM website:

https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product ... emium-kit/

2 weeks in the keg now and what an absolute belter of a beer. Just superb. Best English ale I ever brewed. Would be amazing on a handpump set up.

Has anyone else brewed it?

Anyway... just thought I'd share. Highly recommend!

Yes and it is a cracking pint , the yeast plays a big part in that . I did try brewing the exact same recipe but using 002 , still a nice beer but it lacked that hint of caramel .
I buy my grain & hops from here http://www.homebrewkent.co.uk/

I'm glad you agree Fubar. I think for me, it has really rekindled my love for English ale. I haven't tried it against the bottled version. Have you?

I'll see if it's in ASDA later and do a test. :-)

I think it was the first thing i did on my Grainfather last year, only made three brews on the machine, been ill, away etc....its a fantastic pint and it all went VERY quickly. I hope to be back brewing soon.

Looks really nice. Seems good value if it comes with the liquid yeast as well. I've never bought a mash kit before for some reason but can see the appeal

The kits certainly put paid to having odds and sods of malts & hops left lurking around .

Dave,
I know the reason... They are an expensive way to brew. (for best effect read that is a shouty voice 🤣)

It is cheaper to throw away stray/leftover grain than commit kiticide (sorry I will go and sit in the car)

Ok you could also feed leftovers to the animals....

Think I need a beer 🍻

Kiticide

This is only the second kit I've ever bought. I couldn't resist after reading the reviews. Recipe isn't actually disclosed on the web page. I know it now though

Price wise, I've worked this TTL kit out to be around £18.40 for ingredients down to the actual gram based on their bulk ingredient prices. So there's a £2.60 packing charge on there.

This one looks good too. Defs giving it a go: https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product ... rican-ipa/ Full recipe is also disclosed so no need for me to go down the kit route as these are common ingredients that I have in bulk.

This is the first kit I bought: https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product ... al-porter/ Although the full recipe is available, I'd still buy as a kit again as there are so many uncommon ingredients. I know that leftovers would just take up room and eventually go to waste.

Kiticde may be committed again in the future!

I don't think I could brew from kits as I get a bit edgy if I spot my 25Kg sack getting low. I panic-buy my next six month's supply of grain and hops and feel a lot calmer.

I tend to agonise over what I'm going to brew and how I'm going to do it up until the last minute, so kits would take a bit of commitment from me to plan ahead and stick to it! Instead I have a bunch of ingredients at home which I supplement with stuff from the local homebrew shop.

25kgs of pale malt and some hops in the freezer are reassuring things to have too!

But that spoils the fun of random use it up brews, chuck all those odds and sods in and hope for the best.
