just had a few bottles of this last night. i though it is fantastic reminds me of a slightly dryer tasting bishops tipple. got to try and work a clone out for this. Any advice would be useful.

Which Broughton Ale was it - they do half a dozen or more? My favourite is Old Jock. 8)

I'll pick up a bottle next time i'm in the supermarket and see what I think.

I've only tried bottled Broughton Oatmeal Stout which is excellent, and Merlin ale on cask which is pretty good too.

I love all the names: "Black Douglas" & "Exciseman's 80/-" are great names for beer. I'll have to give Old Jock a try too.

From the description it looks like they blend their Old Jock with their Oatmeal Stout to make this one.

BYOBRAAH has a recipe for Old Jock and there are a few good Oatmeal Stout recipes in circulation. Interesting project if you take it on. :)
