Boil time for Steeped grains

Post by potatoes » Wed Jun 15, 2016 11:07 am

Hi All,

I have started brewing again and am beginning with doing adapted kit recipes. I am going to steep some speciality grains, add DME, bring to the boil and then put in some finishing hops, chill and add to the FV with the beer kit. I am unsure how long I should boil the DME/speciality grains concoction. As far as I know, DME doesn't need a long boil, if at all. How about Speciality grains? Should I boil them for 10 mins? Or does it not matter?

Thanks in adv,

Dan :?

I wouldn't boil the grains at all, I would steep them then remove them before the boil.

Hi, thanks for the reply,

Sorry, should have been clearer. After I remove the grains, bring to the boil, how long do I need to boil?

Regards,
Dan
