Aaaahhh.......you've got one of them ones with an S30 adaptor!

What is your plan for gassing this long term - are you going to use pub bottles and use the gas-in corny post, or stick with the S30? If you plan to go to pub gas, then you might want to get a replacement lid without the S30 - one less area to leak.

However - that probably doesn't help you now..... for the S30 valve, I'd imagine all you can do is unscrew it, check it's all clean and that any o-rings or washers that go between it and the corny lid are smooth, then just put it back together and tighten it right up. I don't have any lids like that so don't know how they fit the adaptors for the lid - but i would imagine there are rubber washers involved somewhere.

Just a thought, have you got the rubber washer for the S30 valve on the outside or inside? If it's on the inside, the gas will leak up through the threads.

Does having an s30 valve in the lid limit the pressure you can use on the corni? Is this a problem?

I thought this may be the issue too. what I could do with is a screw-on S30 cap.......

TBH I would save up for a new lid gas regulator and gas bottle it will be much cheeper in the long run mate. Reason is you will get 2 maybe 3 cornies out of a HB bottle especially if you end up force carbonating your brews.

Well it worked well over the week.... very pleased. still think I have a slight leak, though this could be the S30.....

Emptied rinsed and flushed with sterlizer.... is it ok to leave the sterilizer in the Corny until next use? It's SS so I can't see it damaging it.

If its a chlorine based sanitiser then you shouldn't really . . . I do and have never had a problem . . . but my cornii only cost me between 5 and 10 quid each so loosing one would not be a major issue. Iodophor type sanitiser should be fine

VWp is chlorine based as well mate it will eat through your corney given time, Use viadene you can get it from a local chemist for a few pounds dilute it to 1.25ml per litre after you have cleaned the keg give it a spray turn it upside down and let it dry out properly otherwise the dreaded rust could set in.

I've rinsed the VWP out and need to invert the Corny to allow it to dry...... as it's SS how does it rust? just on the welds?

If SS is not allowed free air to pass over it, It can have a tendancy to rust dont forget the name stainless steel their for not rust proof but if you clean your corney and let it dry properly it wont rust, Aleman has a better explination about this than I do but its good to keep cornies clean and dry.
In saying that I just ordered 2x9 litre cornies from norm to go with the 3 18 litre ones I already have. Wife has promised me 2 more 18 litre ones for christmas ( result ) so I should be able to start thinking of getting rid of the cheep plastic kegs soon.
