Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading my current (original HK Plastics) Hop & Grape 60L boiler for a nice new shiny 70L stock pot from our friends in Germany. I have a quick question regarding head space in a 70L pot? During my last 10 gallon brew day my 60L boiler started with 57.6L of pre boil wort which just about filled my boiler and it almost boiled over (see pic below) hence the possible boiler upgrade. If I bought a 70L stainless steel stock pot and was to boil a pre boil volume of say 57.6L would I have enough room to avoid a possible boil over in a 70L pot? Anyone got any pics of a 70L pot with a 10 gallon boil in it?
Nearly boiled over
I was going to just ask how much room would I have left in a 70L pot if I had a pre boil volume of 57.6L but I just know someone would have posted back 70L – 57.6L is 12.4 which I already know I just need to know if that 12.4L space would be sufficient to avoid a boiler over (height wise in the boiler)
Cheers DC
