Hello everyone.
I was thinking about purchasing used or brand new fridge for fermentation temp control. Trouble is that I live in 1 bed apartment and I haven't got space for another undercounter fridge. So I was thinking about table top mini fridge where I could fit in 3 gal carboy + maybe some 1 gal carboys, as I am doing small batch 2-3 gal brews. Maybe some of you already have been in similair situation and could give me some advice on this one? I have looked on the internet but I am not sure can it be done because in fridge specs they usually show only external dimensions.
Thanks in advance
Small fermentation fridge
Re: Small fermentation fridge
I have a mini fridge I was going to use for yeast starters and pH buffer solutions. The problem with it being so small is my vivarium heater tried to burn the top. I haven't been able to find a small enough heater for it yet.
It also had a tiny freezer compartment which gets in the way. There's enough room in there for a 1gal demijohn only.

use the tabletop fridge for your milk and the undercounter fridge for your fermentation

Re: Small fermentation fridge
If u have a smaller fridge than usual look at alternative FV's,, my fridge build was smaller than usual, so i ended up fermenting in PP jerrycans which would fit where buckets wouldnt
a polypin with the tap up and open with a blow tube attached can be used to ferment in, which may fit inside a table top fridge?
perhaps a fridge isnt the way to go? a shelf chiller can chill a coil, and a heat pad or trace cable can apply heat controlled by the same stc1000 type controller used in a brewfridge mod. you can even fit an inline heat tube in the water line to the coil for heating if u want.

I have table top as yeast fridge and freezer part is PIA. There not a lot of usable space.
If you're worried about drilling holes in under counter fridge then don't, just close door over cables.
