self build secondary co2 regulator

Post by ColinG » Fri Apr 11, 2014 10:11 pm

Just made the inevitable switch to all grain. so far made a mcewans export clone of which i had my first pint tonight. Dont know why i didnt switch earlier as it tastes so much better!

Im running a corny pushed through via a boc suregas bottle at the moment, but im going to rig up a 4 keg system, 2 corny in the fridge and 2 cornys at room temp for a nice stout/export.

So in my anticipation decided to build a 4 way manifold with some air regulators from machine mart.

will post up more pics of the completed system tomorrow.

details on the regs u used would be useful as the normal x-pub 2ndary jobs dont always come with a friendly and informative gauge let alone a finger friendly knob... nice job..

50l mango barrels on ebay for £5+ £6 pnp if u want a budget big boiler ;)
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

these are the regulators here

The only thing i will say about these regulators is that you will need to isolate the regulator from the co2 if not in use as these are designed to bleed of the pressure when you wind the regulator out, so in effect when you wind out the regulator to closed position it will bleed co2, from the diaphragm.

I have one of those barrels, pressed into service as FV. I'd say it's 45 litres, maybe 50 to the brim.

Cheers,
Chris
