Thrumometer (Blichmann) experiences

Post by setmash » Wed Apr 30, 2014 4:11 pm

Hi guys, whilst musing about my cold side design I was wondering if anybody owns a Blichmann Thrumometer - looks like an interesting way of measuring temp of wort prior to going in to the FV without introducing yet another thread to harbour potential infections. Do they work ? Is the 3/8 pipe an issue ? Brew shop stocks them for 21 quid? I guess I could probably build something similar just using an LCD thermometer tacked on to the output of the chiller

I thought about it for a while but decided against it because it can't handle hot wort.

Instead I have purchased this:

Works brilliantly!

Ahh I hadnt realised the Thrumometer cant handle boiling wort (I guess the 3/8 pipe gives it away lol). I was hoping to get away from as many threads as possible.

Nice thermometer Brewhardware probe connectors. I do like some of their gear. Thanks for the link
