13 amp round kettle plug

Post by DeadFall » Sat Jun 14, 2014 8:43 pm

Anyone know where to get one without paying the same price or more in postage?

I've just ordered a second one from ebay, from the same seller. The first one had a duff pin socket and when I plugged it in, it broke the internal retaining mechanism. So I'm a bit concerned about the quality and want a back up option. I was hoping to brew tomorrow too :(

They are like hens teeth these days. :(

If you do find a good source, please share it on here!

Homebrew builder have them, I bought off the Bay it failed and went back. As they were very helpful about it I'm trying again.

Are there any other options? Soldering wires to the terminals and using a more common connection?

Second one arrived today and I've just wired it up. This one looks ok, it didn't split into pieces as I plugged it in. I did check the terminal holes and pushed a philips into them to realign the connectors to make sure (they didn't look good). I'm going to order 2 more in a few weeks for spares. I'd recommend doing the same if you get any. Especially as this seller may dry up. Test boil 10L of water tonight and then I'll work in the kitchen tomorrow and brew some beer!

Before I go and blow myself up, or more importantly, destroy a £27 element. Do I need anything between the wall and the element? Or can I plug in and go?

A bit of wire might help :-)

As long as the plug has an appropriate fuse in it (13 amp) it will be fine.
