Hello Gents
I have shamelessly posted this on the "other forum" so I might get banned from both.
Yet to take possession of my Crusader 20L slimline kegs and also my micromatic Sankey S couplers.
But I am looking to buy a good value new chest freezer to turn into a Kegerator, around 150-200l. Curry's have reasonable Indesit one.
Does anybody know what the required depth of vertical height clearance is to accommodate the kegs and coupler whilst stood vertically? Most of the products seem to range from 800mm to 850mm external height, but their internal dimensions are not specified. The Indesit total height is 830mm
Any crusader keg owners recommend a freezer?
Many thanks. I live out in the sticks so cannot go to the shop easily, even less so brandishing a beer keg.
Also after some stainless steel beer taps but that is another question

Minimum Chest Freezer Height to Accommodate Crusader 20L Keg
Re: Minimum Chest Freezer Height to Accommodate Crusader 20L
The dimensions are on the crusader website, just add the height of your coupler plus a bit for beer line or get 90degree elbows for the top spout.

Yes belter, that comes 700mm plus hose or elbow..... Still don't know how much height is lost in the freezer due to insulating and mechanics... Seems OK at a guess, but rather now for sure if at all possible

It will also depend on what the make of the coupler is, not all are the same height, I spent months finding the very short stems for my couplers (10mm shorter than normal) + it will also depend on what type of JG fitting you use at the top. A plastic fitting and elbow is taller than a metal fitting and plastic elbow. ( this can gain another 5mm).
Other in important consideration if using a fridge with a door is the coupler "gets longer" when dis-engaged.
The best way forward IMHO is to make a timber collar for the chest freezer + you can mount the taps in the collar.
Cheers

+ 1 to making a wooden collar (if required - if there is enough room inside with lid closed, it might be less work to drill a hole in the centre of the lid & fit a font ?)

Found a good outdoor larder fridge in Curry's on sale, LOGIK LTL60W14.
