Mesh envelope hop stopper with gas?

Post by Kev888 » Mon Jul 07, 2014 9:17 pm

I was in the process of making a large circular mesh envelope hop stopper for my electric boiler, with #30 stainless mesh. But plans changed and I'm now going to be heating from below with gas.

Does anyone know if this type of hop stopper could it interfere with wort circulation around the base and cause scorching when heating on high power?

Cheers

I have a Garth style hop stopper kev on a 10kW gas burner.

have had no problems at all. Just remember to make sure you take the stopper off after every prew or so to give the put under a bloody good clean.

Great, many thanks Dave.

My burner will be a tad less powerful than that so I should be safe then.
