England Worthside Triple CO2 reg

Post by SteveD » Mon Apr 02, 2007 5:55 pm

I've got one of these, from Norman, and having just got a CO2 bottle from Calor Gas, Guildford (they do O2, aswell :) ) I thought I'd hook it all up to my as yet untried Cornie to make sure it all works properly before I put the Mild in it.

(1) The Cornie seals and holds pressure and the tap works ok, no leaks.

(2) I can't work out what the regulator is doing. The high pressure gauge shows 900psi and I was able to pressure up the cornie but only through one of the three outlets (the one nearest the gas input). The other two I can't make work in the same way. They leak CO2 when they shouldn't. no ammount of twiddling their pressure adjusting screws seems to make a difference. Gas comes out of No.2 when you adjust the screw on No1, if No 1 isn't connected....eerrr?

Does this regulator need all three outlets to be connected to work properly? That would be a bit of a bummer. I've got 2 more cornies arriving probably tomorrow. I'll hook them all up and see what happens before ringing Norman.

Any ideas. I will admit to never having used a pub dispense set up before - King keg/S30 up till now.

 Andy's mind - 'Bugger the regulator! Tell me about the O2!!!'

I didn't ask, but you need to set up an account first with the O2 supplier. They need this before Calor can let you have O2. Easy to do, apparently, but needs doing. Nice friendly bunch. :D

That makes sense - the only way it worked was to use the one nearest the HP side. When the other two cornies arrive I can test that.

DaaB's right - you have to use them from the CO2 inlet connector outwards. And I *think* that the pressures can't increase as you move out from the inlet connector but can only stay the same or decrease (relative to the previous outlet in the chain).

This sounds like the same one I've just got from norm.

I can't work out how to set the pressure. I've tried turning the screws on front but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I can't leave the co2 on as it just keeps increasing the pressure.

if anything like my 3 reg board..
Image

the bottle pressure is indicated on the dial off to the side and all three regulators are fed by the full bottle pressure feed so can be used independently of each other..

i use the 1st for hi pressure beers (15-20psi), the second is attached to an air tool for flushing bottles/buckets with co2. and the last is my ale reg set as low as possible..

if leaking and 'new' from Norm , Give Norm a shout.. he resolved the issue i had with a keg once very quickly.

mine didnt come from norm and the little metal lever valves did leak on me but they can be pulled and replacement orings fitted (i took mine to a shop n matched em so dont have a spec sorry).. all the threads will probably be locked tight with sealing compound so if u do start to dismantle be prepared to use a big lever, i needed a 5ft steel tube to extend my 300mm wrench when exchanging the hi pressure gas hose on mine, and even then it was threatening to bend the backplate or rip of the wall first..

edit ** PS I am sure you have already done so, but dont forget to chain your gas bottle to the wall, top heavy, hi centre of gravity, just one knock and its over probably pulling your board off the wall as it goes..
ist update for months n months..
