Hi everyone,
I currently brew in a 75L BIAB setup, which is working nicely.
I'm considering an upgrade to help with filtering out trub and other gunk.
My intention is to use a cage/strainer which sits inside the kettle but above the elements. This can then be used for grain but also hops.
When the boil or mash is complete the strainer will lift out leaving behind lovely pure wort and a simple cleanup.
Anyone else tried this, or heard of something similar?

Re: Brew in a cage...
Theres a very long thread over on homebrewtalk from a chap trying something like this as part of his build (here). He really struggled to find a mesh that he felt was small enough to retain the grain particles during the mash and yet also allow the bubbles through (as he put it) during the boil. I saw another thread where he later mentioned that he thinks bags are a better answer.
I haven't done it myself so can't really judge but I thought it worth mentioning just in case. Based on that I've decided to go with a bag in my first BIAB build, though I may make a 'very' open basket to support the bag.
Cheers
Kev
