mould from storage

Post by Dave-Leeds » Fri Sep 05, 2014 7:56 pm

My brewing gear has been stored in a cellar for a few month till i got shed sorted out. A few fvs and other bits have got black mould on them. Is it worth the risk cleaning and sanatising really good several times or shall i just buy some new ones and avoid the risk of infectin on future brew

cheers

I would give them a clean with some unscented bleach and a sponge. Rinse well and sanitise.

You can get cheap plastic fermenters. Do you want to waste £10 playing it safe and buying new fermenters or waste the best part of a day and a whole load of grain and hops if you don't get them clean enough? The answer to that will tell you what to do.

Yeah thats true matt. I have binned a few other bits so suppose a couple of fvs wont make no diffrence. Least they wont have to be stored in the cellar again
