Where to get large bulkheads?

Post by chris2012 » Tue Dec 23, 2014 5:37 pm

Hi guys,

I'm looking to get approx. 1.5" BSP bulkheads, does anyone
know where I could acquire some?

Also if anyone knows of an appropriate hole punch for them, that'd be most appreciated too!

cheers

Chris

not cheap, but u can look at through the deck fittings at sites like asap-supplies.com?.co.uk? or other chandlers they do SS ones..

you may need to get custom SS washers made put the SS and brass pipe fittings from bes.co.uk?.com? come in those sizes too sealing a snug punched hole is easy with lashings of ptfe wraps ;)

depending on the vessel soldering or braizing a copper or stainless steel sanitary flange /triclamp fitting could be an option??

Cheers Fil,

Yeah I'd seen the ASAP supplies one http://www.asap-supplies.com/search/ski ... ing-403557

But it doesn't seem to have a screw thread visible on both sides of the tun?

with 1/2" fittings silicone hose can be used to cover pipe ends for a good enough push seal, i guess you could step up that concept?

Why the large diameter for the fittings? if its because you have a hole that size, you could consider plugging it and cutting a new 20/21mm hole you can use the usual solutions like filled thru tank connector or m20 ss washers with 1/2" hex nipples and a lock nut..

using a fitting that size will push up costs due to the cost of it and all the connecting fittings that size you also need to employ to mate up a valve ..

what size brewery are you building? my 3v 100/80/100 works very well with 1/2" drain fittings..

Cheers for your reply!

I'm building a 200l one hopefully, I've got one drum for the boiler already, which has welded fittings.

But I'm looking to get another for the mash tun, which I'd probably use weldless on, as I can't weld alas.
