cheap hop filter!!! proven to work

Where as I love a build attempt and the threads, I notice the continuous struggle with filters some successful some not.
I purchased mine for £1 some years ago now and the same part has done 100 brews + and it's still going with little problem ....I did struggle with pellets at first but it was solved when I allowed my hops to settle for 5 mins after the boil and when I eventually up grade to th 1" version for an additional 30p I suspect it will work even better.
I've posted comments previous to this on other people's post's but I urge a few to try it before venturing in to a possible expensive fail.

From the product photo it looks like the threads could be plastic - is it definitely suitable for use in hot kettles?

The threads are nylon. I have seen a stainless steel thread model ...but I've had no problems with this product.

Not rubbishing this product Alix as it seems to have worked for you many times without fault but I bought one about a year or so ago, not 100% sure if it was from the same place but it looks identical to the one I bought , might of even been from your original post/thread ? But mine melted the first time I used it and left a plastic taste in my beer which ended down the drain.....I might of been unlucky and got a duff one ?

I used it in a buffalo boiler on the back of the modified tap.

Cleaned out the new cask washer today and found these babies used as a filter. Completely stainless, thread and all. Will be speaking to the manufacturer tomorrow to find out how if he can get me one.

Depending what type of nylon it's is, would depend if it's ok in a kettle, I got some nylon washers for something else, in my build, I googled nylon 66, which was the type of nylon the washers were made of. the info I got was it melted at well over 100C. So when I got them, just to be sure I boiled one for 1/2hr, yeh it got a bit soft but not any where near that I could deform it, it just got a bit flexible.

I think I will have a look into one of these type filters.

Does anyone use a pump to recirc the wort while cooling. As this was when my 40 mesh ss A4 sheet folded in half got a bit clogged and I lost about the last 2lts of wort in the kettle. But it was the first brew with this new kettle and filter.

Was going to buy thinking excellent nice and cheap but not so cheap with delivery, ill get a bazooka screen and order alongside other brewing stuff , would be great if lived close and could pick up or needed to order more from the site
