help - flash cooler not working

Post by mr c » Sat Feb 28, 2015 11:09 pm

hi, new to the site so hope i have posted this in the right place.
I have a flash cooler and it was working fine the last time i used it- admittedly over a year ago!. come to set the cooler up and as soon as it is plugged in it trips the power. it doesnt make any noise or anything.
Im not the most electrically minded although i have opened it up and all the wires appear in order. Any suggestions

cheers ac

Probably the motor start capacitor has failed.

the rcd trips, Everything else works, lights etc. it just trips the power as soon as i plug the cooler in and switch power on. its plugged in the same place as its always been so by default i presuming its a fault on the cooler. tip for anybodt helping me- plain english pleae no technical jargon, lol

sounds like an earth fault, could be damp in the motor windings, could be a damaged cable or even an incorrectly wired plug

you realy need a megger to test as a normal multimeter dont kick out enough volts to test properly.Leave the compressor somewhere warm and dry for a few days and give it another try
