Element retrievable?

Got up early to start a brew this morning and the RCD tripped.

Traced it to the element, took it off my pot and have in a good scrub then took the housing off the back. Ah.

Looks like the connector on the live wire was undersized.

Is it worth scrubbing this up now and getting some new screws (and heavy duty connectors  ) or is this a write off?

Do you have a multimeter to measure the resistance across the terminals?

In theory R =(V^2)/P

I don't but I can probably get a hold of one tomorrow. Good idea.

now its clean give it another try,the rcd tripping was possibly due to the crud forming a path between live or neutral to earth,it doesn’t need to be a dead short a few 1000 ohms can still pass enough current to trip domestic RCDS

a multimeter aint realy the tool for these sort of faults ,you really need a megger as they give out a much higher voltage.

We have lift off. Cheers, it's working again.

Will do a mini stress test then brew next Sunday instead!
