Possible to covert a freezer?

Post by Manngold » Sun May 17, 2015 8:52 am

I have been kindly given a under the counter fridge and a freezer. My idea is to turn the fridge into a fermentation chamber, and I ideally want to turn the freezer into a kegerator type thing. Is this possible with a freezer? In terms of equipment for both, would I need a stc for each?

Anything else that I need to be aware of?

Thanks all.

Depends... Usually the under counter freezers have cooling elements in the shelves. If that's the case, you can't really do anything with it.

Chest freezers are much better for kegerators if you can get hold of one.

I don't think I can. It is a gift from a friend. What do I need to specifically look for to see if I can do it?

Thanks for the reply.

Just take the drawers out and look for pipework between them. Anything like this and you're pretty much out of luck:

Use it for hop storage instead.
