Adding corny gas post to pressure barrel

I'm looking to add a corny gas inlet post & poppet to a standard plastic pressure barrel. I'm taking this route as I already have a gas setup with regulator that I use with my corny. It's only really used to add very low pressure to the barrel to replace the volume of beer drawn off each time. I use a beer engine to dispense. I tried using the 8g CO2 bulbs but you can't regulate them so it's all or nothing.

I thought I read once before that Jim had done the very same thing but I've searched and struggled to find the post.

Has anybody else done this and how did it turn out?

Surely they all accept the standard ball lock connector?

I would have thought so but with only one corny of my own I have no way to test the theory.

And sods law dictates that when I get a new post it wont fit and I'll have a shiny new paper weight.

Yes there's a thread somewhere. I used a carbonator cap as I had one to hand. Using a proper cornie post would be better job though, if you find the appropriate fixings.
