2" barrel caps without valve?

Post by kearnage » Thu Sep 17, 2015 2:23 pm

Does anybody know of anywhere I can get hold of 2" caps for the budget pressure barrels that don't have any pressure relief valves (or any other kind of valve e.g. S30) in them?

I'm looking for plain caps with no holes, no valves, nothing!

I would like to then fit a tyre valve to each which will allow me to regulate the pressure, and also fit a low pressure regulator (as a cask breather). I can use the caps with the pre-drilled hole fr an S30 valve by using a silicone seal and two nylon washers but it's just another chance to get a leak.

I've got 10 barrels waiting to be filled. A pub gas cylinder, all the tyre valves, all the gas lines, regulators & connections and the ingredients for 4 x 23l brews.

Thanks

I ended up using a cap that was pre-drilled for an S30 valve.

Two nylon penny washers, a custom seal cut from a sheet of silicone I had and the stainless steel tyre valve later and I had this

Testing the barrel with water and a hand pump for now. It all seems to be holding a steady pressure.
