I'm adding a tap to my stock pot that I use on a gas burner. I've gone with this kit http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/aca ... g0NpJfp9yA and added a hop filter. The kit is supplied with several Kevlar washers. They certainly seem to provide a good seal but does anyone know if they are food safe?
I don't want to panic but I do like to design my equipment as safely as possible so I can serve my beer to others with the confidence that it is safe! My other boiler (a swan tea urn, had a fibre washer internally which I got rid of due to the unknown content of the washer. This seemed to do no harm at all but I think the stock pot tap will leak without the use of washers.

Re: Kevlar Washers Foodsafe?
I know the malt miller sells his taps with kevlar washers. So I'm guessing there food safe. If your that worried powell brewing do 22mm high temp silicone washers 4 quid for 10. But I'd be fairly sure that the home brew shop wouldn't sell unsafe washers could always phone um and ask

Thanks for replying so quickly! I'm sure it's fine but for the sake of £4 I've ordered those silicon ones. Thanks, Matt.
