I'm looking at one of these are they worth it then ? The thing I don't understand is say the liquid is in your fv is 15 c and you select 19 c. Does it make the heat source cycle or heat continously. As moving 23 litres of liquid up 4 c will take some time I imagine ?

Any advice or input is greatly received

Assuming it works the same way as the STC1000 it will heat continuously until it gets to the set temperature.

Won't that mean your heat sauce being on for a while causing damage to fridge

That would be the case for any temp controller if you are lifting the temp by a big amount. You need to be careful where you put your heater.

I use a 60W (IIRC) tube heater and it's fine.

See the thread here.

That wouldn't happen unless you put the temperature probe in the beer and it was cold. If you put the probe in the fridge outside of the FV it will heat the surrounding air to the right temperature and that will in turn keep the beer at the right temperature.
