Choosing a chiller for cold crashing and keeping kegs cool

Post by sonicated » Fri Mar 25, 2016 11:31 am

With the weather getting warmer I don't think I can rely on the garage for cold crashing and keeping the kegs cool. I had a look in Currys and I reckon I can fit one FV and three cornies (on different levels) in this fridge:

I've had a couple of dodgy fridges on eBay so want to buy new. Will a fridge get cold enough for cold crashing?

Are there any other solutions such as a keezer? Eventually I plan to put taps on it.

I know you say you want a new one, but have you tried free cycle? Both of mine came from there. Fridges I think are around 4°c.

Fridges will go lower than 4C on max, both mine are hooked up to STC-1000's and crash chill to 1C (not sure how low they will go but low enough to crash chill in anyway).

It's annoyingly not tall enough - back to the drawing board!

Have a look at this mate. This will be chamber #3 for me - just found a small fridge on freecycle......
