Transfer from fv to bottling bucket

Post by sbond10 » Sun May 01, 2016 12:17 pm

I currently use a simple bit of pvc tubing and a clip to draw my beer from the fermenter to the bottling bucket. But I struggle with the last litre or so especially if I've dry hopped.

Thinking about getting a stainless racking cane with a micron filter from the likes of the brew builder.

Does anyone use these how does the filter cope with debris etc.

Ive tried tipping the fv but with lose trub I just end up stirring up the crap

Cheers for any advice
Sean

I use one of the plastic auto siphon and tip the fv and get almost all the beer into the bottling bucket, very little pickup

I found, by chance 2 batches ago, that leaving my plastic fv in its builders trug water bath slowly creates an angle as the bucket starts to float as it empties and by keeping my hand on my plastic racking cane with trub filter at one edge I can get pretty much all the clear beer out and leave everything else behind.
