Confirmed, all working without the level shifter. LCD on 5V.
At first the LCD was lit up but no text. It was the bloody contrast pot! Lol

good luck..Andy wrote:Ordered the bits for iSpindel too
fwiw i ordered via ebay - no bottles on offer but at least the order arrived and was complete, those ordering direct off the dedicated site seem to receive very poor customer service even get asked to pay for extra pnp and cost price on items missing from deliveries?? post brexit anti brit sentiment???
fwiw you can buy all the electronic bits off ebay they are listed and detailed in the github repository. the sleds you need to print yourself or buy from the supplier..
bottles or giant petlings: http://adventure-caching.de/cache-behae ... -cm-x-4-cm
10 euro pnp is a killer for a 2 euro bottle tho..
have fun....

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
I've already got the Wemos D1 and am planning to use the Wemos battery shield (which I've already got on order) for the Lipo battery management. The accelerometer, temp sensor and PET tube are all on their way via Ebay. £10 for two of the PET tubes delivered. I've got a 3d printer so the sleds shouldn't be a problem.
Dan!
Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
Both my controllers are in full swing atm. I've only had one of them drop WiFi once so far. Both now have IPs reserved on the router so maybe that helped. However the LCDs do go wonky regularly. After a day or 2 they start showing squares and strange characters. The controllers work fine and I can get to them through the web. Power cycle sorts them out if I'm bothered. I'll probably just disconnect them completely.
I'm looking forward to hearing how your iSpindle came together Andy
