I assuming that that amount of Trub means a really good cold break and Ultra ultra clear wort....

it's a mix of hot and cold break. the hot break was achieved by a 75 min boil and half a protofloc tablet.

but yeah - more than i used to get

That's a heck of a lot of trub!

yeah

that's a lot of hops there to filter it eh! there's a couple of elements down there somewhere - what you'd find it hard to believe is that one is at '12.00' and the other is at '3.00' that bulge on the left is just hops all the way down!

and that's the last time I use that brewery - I'm full to capacity and now have to empty 80 bottles before I finish my 10gallon brewery  :D

Top design, Gurgeh, I think it takes me about 30 mins from 100C to 25 ish with 10mx10mm single IC.

Think I'll upgrade

I had that comment floating around my head the last couple of days. I never expected to find that my water temperature was what it appears to be...

I've seen the copper ones online for £29.99 and really don't fancy making my own as it's bound to go wrong. My local HBS offered me a stainless steel one for £48. Now I'm sure I can find that cheaper online if needs be but is there any benefit other than the fact that it's stainless steel? Harder to bend / deform is one possible theory I had but is it worth the extra investment?

Stainless steel doesn't corrode as easily, but it doesn't conduct heat as easily either. I would say stick to copper, it's a more efficient heat transfer material.

Great Idea Gurgeh!! :) I am too late...as recently bought a bog standard IC 7.5 :( however never to be beaten I have just spent the last hour opening up the coil up to 12"..(as my H&P Boiler not big enough for 13").

Its obvously shorter than yours but when I will call and get some 2 x 10mm T's from my local Ironmongers...I'll see if I can also get some extra copper pipe..I am sure that I could put a 10mm straight length on to extend it too 10m. Do you think it will work ?

If I can't get extra 10mm Copper Coil could I buy the extra from some of you who might just have too much!!! (Tight Yorkshireman)!!

Steve

PS start my first Brew in 10 years next Thursday Ex Gold!!

Highwayman. With the incredible hike in cooling capability through the twin IC principle I wonder if you need to extend your 7.5 to see an increase in cooling capability.
Personally I would convert the 7.5 to twin IC and seee what happens. If it doesnt do it for you and 10 is where you want to be . then you can buy extra tubing , a couple of 10mm slip collars and extend.
Or Option 2 Punt the 7.5 get 10 of 10 mm from focuas at £17 and make the 10m twin IC from scratch
Tightness isnt confined to Yorkshire...

Thanks for the advice Frisp......I think I will run with the 7.5 Twin IC and see how it goes!! (already spent a fortune on setting up again )
