its just an idea but since your considering drastic solutions..

if the problem is that the keg is too thick or the element thread is too short, and the locknut is not gaining purchase to make a tight seal.. then perhaps you could try jbwelding/solderin/braising/welding the SS km8 locknuts you have to the inside of the keg centred over the cut holes, then when dry/sealed/cool you could screw the elements into these? they should form a seal easily against the machined km8 surface, to get the elements sitting horizontally screw the locknuts tight against the element sealing washer and mark the locknut for positioning inside the keggle before setting them..

if it works you will at least be able to change an element should one die..
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

Fil thanks thats a very good idea indeed. I did think along those lines but not soldering it in the inside. so I could just screw it into the locknut on the inside. would be ideal. ye the main problem is keg wall too thick and not enough thread on elements, have 1.2mm thick washers on order too so between them all I should get a good seal. ill get it up to this guy when I get the washers. thanks to everyone who replied. I'll let you know how it goes. cheers

The OP has not been on the forum for 2 years so is unlikely to respond.

I use Fernox LS-X wherever I have a leak I cannot fix.
