Mag pump wiring
Re: Mag pump wiring
Then I'd say your good to go, as I said I wouldn't worry too much about the current, the worst possible thing that could happen is that it can't deliver enough current to run your pump, but your best off checking that on the pump. The only thing I would say... and that's just my sceptical nature of all things Chinese, the first time you run it properly just keep your eye on your PSU and make sure it doesn't get excessively hot.
Re: Mag pump wiring
Beware cheap power supplies. NEVER compromise on quality when it comes to a psu, otherwise you will burn out the pump - or your house! I have mrlard 24v pumps - see how I mounted them in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=66488. And this is where I got my psu: http://www.litecone.co.uk/PBSCProduct.a ... D=10324237. 12v ones are available as well: http://www.litecone.co.uk/12v-dc-72w-co ... 2x10302604
Re: Mag pump wiring
Tested yesterday, all works well, flows in right direction, good flow rate (head).
Thanks for the advice from you all, noted about the quality issue, chasstuck, but I have no intentions of ever running it unsupervised.
Next up is to mount the pump to a board using the pipe clip LeeH kindly supplied.
The only thing that made me nervous was the wiring/adapter being in the vicinity of liquids, what have others done about reducing the risk of splash/spillage?

Re: Mag pump wiring
If it were me I would extend the 12v side wiring and place the 240v side out of harms way.

I put my power supplies in a "Lock and & Lock" Rectangular Bacon Food Container. See pictures below:pads72 wrote:Tested yesterday, all works well, flows in right direction, good flow rate (head).

Re: Mag pump wiring
Can anyone enlighten me - what does this part of the adapter do? Can I remove it?

Looks like a ferrite filter, its purpose is to cut down electrical noise that may cause interfering with other equipment

Re: Mag pump wiring
In that case, I think I'll snip it off or reverse wire it. Thanks TMH!
