What's an underback?

It's a small vessel that is used between the tun and the kettle to make the balancing of pumps easier.
They can be set up with a float switch so the busy brewer can get on with other stuff while the sparge proceeds.

What's an underback?

It's a small vessel that is used between the tun and the kettle to make the balancing of pumps easier.
They can be set up with a float switch so the busy brewer can get on with other stuff while the sparge proceeds.

Also by gravity draining the mash into another vessel then pumping from there it reduces suction on the grain bed in the tun, reducing the chance of a stuck mash (compared with pumping directly from the tun)
