I've had one of the small ones for ages from when I started doing 1 gallon batches of mead. Good bit of kit, ended up using it on full brews and again no issues...
Then I got a full size one. Biggest waste of money in a long while. Kinked tube, bad seal...does exactly what it shouldn't!

Fermenting -
Conditioning - Meads - Raspberry Melomel yeast test, Vanilla Cinnamon Metheglyn, Orange Melomel.
Drinking - Youngs AAA Kit; Leatherwood Traditional Mead, Cyser, Ginger Metheglyn.
Planning - Some kits until I can get back to AG, then a hoppy porter, Jim's ESB, some American Red.

Those autosyphons are made from Polycarbonate and they "stress crack" with prolongued exposure in cleaning or sterilising agents. I lost one that way before.
My current model is the bigger homebrew version and I replaced the crap PVC hosing that comes with it with silicone tubing and have never looked back.
Like others I uses a window box to sanitise a tip I got here years ago :)
