Yeah. It would have been nice if it worked well, and to be honest it wasn't a huge effort rigging it up since the pump is there already.
I was already thinking that the results would have to be quite spectacular to do it again before the wort had even drained, because its a bit of a PIA - if anything I've been trying to simplify my brew day as much as possible, so its something of a relief that the added effort isn't really justified.
Still interested to know if people are getting good results from doing this - to me it looked as if macerating the hop & break material to that extent was just causing them to stay in suspension even long. Perhaps cooling without the whirlpool first, to allow the break to floc into bigger chunks would be better - and then just whirlpool once the IC has been removed. Could just have the same problem though, with loss of a big part of the benefit (whirlpooling against the IC).
