Haven't started cleaning them yet. I've taken one of the burner assemblies off and completely apart, but the pots themselves are going to wait for a decent weekend before I get the pressure washer out and have a real go at it.

I've had the in-laws here all weekend, and have only just managed to squeeze in a brew day - no pot washing time yet!

Hmmm. £32 for a set of LPG burners. The thermocouple is useful. Will the valve work with LPG?

Seems they might be cheaper from other places as there is a little added on the rings so maybe get them for £1.50 so £30 per set. Not too bad if the manifolds will clean up.
Genius and insanity are but a small step apart. I often feel that I have taken that step.

Lucky you. my plan was to sort out my in between brew kit, an upscale on a 25 L set. Sorted out the mash tun and 20 month old ended up having a bath in it, then off to visit mum.

No brewing done at all.

:D :D :D No idea.....but I'm hoping to get a lot of help on this project from others here.....so keep on thinking!

You're on the same track as me....

I called H&G to enquire about SS false bottoms already. I'll get one for the MT and probably one for the kettle too. Definitely pumped RIMS return - probably with a heater too, just for grins.... Think I'll replace the whole burner and pilot light assembly...current researching ignition modules for boilers and things like that. Probably should be a smaller burner on the MT though - good point.
If you want a false bottom you won't get better than the ones this guy makes here, http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewt ... =37&t=6490
He made me a 620mm wide hinged one and its better quality than the sabco ones. well worth a PM.

looks like you have a really exciting project adm, better get that paddle seasoned or invest in one of These

Alternatively, I'll give the guys that made Scooby's brew stand a call. Their work looks great. I'm thinking 50mm SS box section. Currently messing around with Google Sketchup to learn how to draw it out.
I'm sure if you sent him a drawing Mark will give you a quote for a false bottom as well

I think one of these http://www.hobuk.co.uk/acatalog/Belle-P ... irrer.html
compared to the one above, will leave you change to buy a FB and still leave you some money for ingredients for your first brew

It's funny you should mention a mega stirrer....because the fella from Jugg's Foods said he had half a dozen or so of those sitting around. I asked him to sort one out for me.... no idea what that will be like though.

Hehe....once they are all sold, everybody who bought some should put their hands up and we can ask the mods for a Juggernaut subforum!

Me too, in with a couple of these beauties. Just need to scoop them up next week.

Here comes gallons of Nelson Sauvin brews - once fresh supplies of nelson sauvin hops arrive in town..........Nil Stock until August apparently........Only three packets left in fridge :(

It would be interesting to know how many of these SS boilers have gone to JBK members, or other brewers.

P.s propose to collect next Tues/Wed. I'll be travelling from Northallerton or Preston way, if any other JBK members need some collecting & there's room in the van, pm me.

OK so now a question about burner jets and things....

It looks as if replacing the jets on these burners should be easy, and three different sizes of jet are available for propane: 3750, 5000 and 7800 BTU. Now, i presume that the rating of the overall burner is determined by which jets you choose and how many - so 20 x 5K BTU jets would give 100K BTU, the 3750 jets would yield 75,000 BTU and the 7800 BTU jets would yield 156 BTU.

Now - what else do I need to know to figure out which are the most appropriate - and most importantly, how long the different configurations should take to raise the temperature of 100L of liquor? I'd imagine the efficiency is important...anybody got any idea what number to guess at for that.
