Hi Ditch

I use a heat mat in my Fv fridge controlled by an ATC 800+.
I have also tried a belt and also a 60w tube heater.
The mat is for me, by far the best.
As you are only heating up to something like 20c,
once it stabilizes the mat is hardly on.
As far as im aware there are no off flavors caused by using a heat mat.
I've never Baked the yeast cake.
Norm.

p.s. Your gettin' a bit tecky mate arnt you. youll be using an airlock next.

Image F**k Me, Norm! And that was all going So f**king well, till ye mentioned the f**king 'A Word'!!! Image

That aside (and it's a pretty enormous That, 'mind you!) Music to my ears! At last, we have someone who's not only been there and done it. But, who liked it too! Excellent! My hand's twitching for my plastic ....!

Just one more thing to know, mate: Yeppers. I want the 22C sort of mark. Yes, I'll get an ATC (always wanted one anyway. Anything that can hold temperatures down is just the shitz!)

But; Which Heat Mat? One of these reptile ones? One of the Super (Reptile) ones I've asked about? Or something with " Home ~ Making " in its sales pitch, thus large multiples the price of anything else? Wattage ....? Size ....?

Cheers!

Why not a stc1000 or the cheaper heat only ones. As said before I'd be worried about the weight on a reptile matt hence why I'm going for a homebrew mat

Oh. Sorry, Sbonders. I'm always getting mixed up with these things. Yeah. I meant an S. A's are still sexy though, holding Down temperatures. If they'd only been around when I was breeding the amphibians and shit ....)

Well I have one of the heat only ones here cost me 9 quid just about to send back as I meant to order a hot/cold one but I'm aware of god awful shipping prices to Ireland. So if it's cheaper to go thru me then just say and I'll cancel the refund ?

Well aware of that, Sbonders. I actually have absolutely no use for a cool keeping one anyway. I just like that they now exist

Hi Ditch

The one I use is about 10 years old its 30w. and made by Thorn.
Its nothing special, Any mat would be fine.
I often use it at 30c for my molasses wash. But dont tell anyone right.
It can easily handle 27L @ 30c.

just found this,
so now that everything seems to be sorted, just to be contrary has anyone ever used one of these heat mats :) ? Machine washable for when the stout krausen overflows! At £14.99 its a bargain

Seriously though its a heat mat with a large surface area, might need wrapping in polythene to keep it clean.

   F**k me, Groaner! That's Thinking Outside The Box!!!

Forgive me; I never thought to subscribe to this thread and had got distracted. Just popped back to remind myself of shit and saw this.

What an amazing idea! So; I'm basically getting four foot by two foot of high output f**king heat coils. For Fifteen F**king Quid?!?

SOLD to the very happy man who, only yesterday, paid Pat for that sheet of Kingspan. And who has his cheque book beside him, ready to pay Sbonders for the doobry to control the blanket (Which, incidentally, is virtually made to measure for my envisaged, insulated box!) Best of all, it's available to me, here. And it'll cost me half the price of any Heat Mat!

This has all come together rather nicely, hasn't it, lads? Image

Thanks, all! Image
