Got one of these on order now
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321747368097
Dev board for the ESP8266, interestingly has a 240v 10A relay built in

Very brewing-project compatible !

Good to know!
I like these dev boards as they contain all the USB->serial stuff needed to program the 8266, have all the 8266 pins exposed and add relay/led/buzzer/temp sensor capability all on one board.
For £10 that's good value IMO

Cheers i was looking at those on ebay and trying to think why it would be a bad fit
I tend to make my 'production' projects with mini breadboards dupont terminated prototyping wires and hot glue

Ok I've bought pretty much everything linked to on this thread. I hope one day I'll be able to work out what the hell I need it for. Until then I'll be following this thread closely.

Your only limit is your imagination

start with checking out "The internet of things" it will give you a good idea of the current scope of the esp8266 projects..
Porting arduino solutions to the esp8266 isnt as easy n clean as i would have hoped, but early days yet

Am I right in thinking your temperature sensor is just sensing ambient temps? It's not an actual probe is it?

You can just solder on a lead to one of the Dh22 or 11 sensors Belter, and there is a esp8266 lib for using the ds18b20 sensors too afaik..
postie delievered a usb programmer and some 5v-3.3v logic level converters too

problem is i fried my Rf Rx board the other day.. ho hum..

Revised board layout, now using an ESP-201 form factor with an external aerial.

New stuff arrived:
DHT22 sensor to replace the DHT11, DHT22 has a +/- 0.5 degC accuracy vs +/- 2 degC for the DHT11
And a DS18B20 digital temp sensor/probe to have a play with.
And, thought I'd bricked the ESP8266 when I uploaded a new sketch update. All fixed now though
