That link is for the 161 page version

For the single page version, go here :-

Barry.
That's the "normal" improved firmware, the PID/PI version is here:

O, i have an STC 1000 but i've been reading elsewhere that they shouldn't be used for mashing? Can it be used with the pt100 sensor? I'm going to be putting it in a t-pipe after the ball valve.
Oh and what amps can an STC1000 take, my system needs around a 16amp circuit

No you can't use a pt100 only a NTC. Normal ones are 10A, you can get 30A versions.

Hmm ok, i think i might just get the PID and PT100 and manually change the temps during mashing, it'll only be a clicks of the PID :) Was just hoping to make it more like the Braumeister

Just a few more questions. I'm only going to use this on my unit for the mash tun so a MYPIN TA4 is fine as a TD4 is for boil kettles as it's used in manual mode rigth? (can turn the elements down to 90% 80% etc and pulsate) also the SSR. Do i need a 25a or 40a?
As in this one on amazon states 40a http://www.amazon.co.uk/Temperature-Con ... B0087ZTHZE

Yes the D has a manual mode.

25A is fine but I've always spent the extra few pence and bought the 40's thinking that over engineering may give a little more reliability.

you can simply add a higher amp power realy to an stc1000, get one which switches with a 240v ac current rather than a low dcV current, and its fairly simple to use the stc inbuilt relay to fire it,(no different to adding an ssr to a pid really). the 30a versions wont take the hack as they are a different animal and only contain a single relay which can be used in either heating Or Cooling modes but not both.

afaik the ntc probes are as accurate as a pt100??

check the pid manual before buying, the sestos ones i use only allow limited power control at 25% 50% 75% and 100% iirc no adhoc setting to xx% on the fly..

i dont know the mypin models well but generally the 2 flavors are SSr switching and relay switching, we use ssr switching models..

And do you know if this is the only pt100 type that's detachable?

I was just about to order one then realised it'll be attached to the pid and the mash tun with no quick way of separating them :/

unlike thermocouples which require a continuity of the same metals use in each wire to the measuring device pt100's can be extended/plug n socketed with the usual copper wire and steel fittings.

many folk use the audio 3 pin xlr sockets and plugs as they are a robust solid design for a just few quid
