Unbelievably these things are even cheaper now £88.44 inc vat delivered. Compared to these they are a bargain.

Max pressure 40 psi????? really? I whack mine onto 40 psi for four days I dont want to 'max' them out.
The classic ones are rated to 120 psi I'm pretty sure.....Do like the price though.
Laughed my socks off at the Fleabay prices.....and his reason for quitting brewing, I've got a baby due in 14 days I aint giving up brewing!
In fact I cant see a better time that I'll need a garage full of beer!!

Re: 23 litre cornie kegs, now sensibly priced??
Well I use them to store real beer in at less than 5 psi, not fizzy pop so have absolutely no need of 120 psi
Why anyone would want to spend that money on second hand stuff, that only takes 18 litres is beyond me and the extras don't cut it either
.
I think your reasons are much more justifiable
When SWBO looks the other way I might have to sneak a couple more in

You can get A.E.B ones for £100 i think i'm tempted to get one of those next time, as afaik they can hold the full pressure, which is useful for stouts,
which need ~40PSI. And they have the handy rubber feet and top

Makes more and more sense to make the conversion to standard kegs. They're cheaper and if you buy 2 + all the fittings its effectively the same as buying 2 cornies. I've got 6 cornies myself and no kegs (yet) and I think i'll wait until barneey barney and tother lad (cant remember his name) have had a full chance to play with them before considering making a switch but at the prices that people are actually paying for them, I could get rid, and nearly double the count, not to mention getting 30L ones so theres even MORE beer on tap
(sh*t, may have just convinced myself
)

Re: 23 litre cornie kegs, now sensibly priced??
I like the idea of a standard keg, but they look a PITA to clean!

Re: 23 litre cornie kegs, now sensibly priced??
Can anyone link me to Barneeys thread about standard kegs. I want to see how he's getting on and see if its a viable option

dont forget the 20ltrs for £64 ish.
Just one thing with the 50 &30lts they are wider than a corny, the 20 should be the same size.

Certainly the 23`s look good value for money, & IMHO £50 + P&P is a decent price for used kegs in todays market, a year or so ago they were half that.

Re: 23 litre cornie kegs, now sensibly priced??
Yep he had no eBay feed back etc. when I first posted them on Jim`s, I took a punt when they were £15.00 each after he had sold 50 of them quickly the price went up to £20.00 although sold as unchecked they were a bargain that and the Germany keg import kept kegs at a low price for some time. Stocks seem to have run out now, even the china market for used kegs was $25 dollars and then over night it doubled.
BTW home brew shops are selling used for £60 ish now. So why anyone is still buying EBay ones is beyond me.
As for matey with the heart op , hope everything went OK for him, because as you say he`s never come back since?
EDIT £67 from Hop and Grape http://www.hopandgrape.co.uk/public/cat ... BAR2157048

I joined the forum literally days too late for those kegs.
Re: 23 litre cornie kegs, now sensibly priced??
Me and Belter bought 4 cornies around this time last year for £150 for the 4 delivered. They were untested but were all in great condition. It cost a bit more for the replacement seals but looking back even they were a bargain. I wish I'd bought more at the time because I could do with 1 or 2 more.
The way prices are going it's almost looking like being worth cashing them in and going down the standard keg route. I am quite glad though that I do at least have some cornies for a good price.

We thought they were expensive at the time though haha
The thing I can't get past with kegs is it makes sense to go big, but they won't fit in my house. I think I'll get a chest freezer and store them in the garage
