Wow practically next door. When I'm ready I might intrude on you for some advice cos what you've got is exactly what I want to do. I also want to start using propane burners. Let me know when that brews ready and I'll help you drink it :D

Yes mate, not far at all, your more than welcome to stop by or fire us a PM, we use the HLT on a 2.3Kw element and the boiler is a 7.5Kw Propane burner. Should be ready in 3 weeksish.

I am looking at setting up my first (and only) home brewery. I am looking at using 210l stainless steel oil drums as my hlt, Mt, blr with 2 or 3 fv's off of these. This will allow me to scale up production when needed. Does anyone see any issues with using oil drums(new ones)?

I would check how the ends are fitted into the drums, some are done by what is called in fabrication terms as a 'double lock seam', a flange folded over a flange which will leave an area for bacteria to collect on the inside of the cylinder.

I'm even closer, in Witham. There is another member on here from Witham too.

Over on the brewing forum we have organised a South East Anglia meet up in London. You are more than welcome to join us, 30th August at the Crosse Keys on Gracechurch Street, London. It's a 5 minute walk from Liverpool St. We have done it a few times, it's a good craic.

Well, after a mostly completed build we managed to squeeze in a few brews but have found some areas for improvement, refilling the gas bottle is the beginning but basically we are going to a full rebuild of the table to make a purpose built 2 tier brewing stand.

This will feature a cupboard to store all the gear, a coat hanger rack to store the hoses with Camlock fittings, a permanently placed STC unit, secure cabling for all the gizmos, a shelf under the table for 2 gas bottles with regulators and gas level indicators and a mounted mag pump for mash tun to boiler transfers.

And we have officially named it!

This is a draft drawing of how the new system could look:

First things first, where would I find a mounting bracket for a mag pump?

Cheers

Just wanted to add here that I made Kyles BIG BRUTE MILD recipe about 3 weeks ago and I can honestly say this is one of the best brews I've ever made. I bottled all mine and unfortunately didn't add enough priming sugar so they are a bit flat but wow what a taste!

Well 6 months on and things didn't pan out the way as planned, the big kit got broken down and I am now doing 2 vessel brewing, but I am currently in thought of rebuilding what I have but there are several complications to be worked out, I shall draw up a sketch of what I plan to do in the near future should funds permit and any amount of guidance would be appreciated.

Cheers

Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind, I'm not quite sure how I want to tackle this yet, I'm half tempted to buy a new pot and start again.

Cheers

Yeah I saw it on another forum, only bit is I lack the tools at the minute to do the majority of conversion myself. But to buy it all would cost a fortune. Need to find somewhere down the middle, how did you find Home Brew Builders prices for custom work?
