S30 NO2 bottles

Post by Dave S » Fri Jan 18, 2013 5:13 pm

Does anyone know if these exist, and if so where you can get them? I've seen the sparklets size ones but they're a waste of time IMO. I'm thinking it would be nice to have for my next batch of Stout.

Any pointer appreciated

EDIT: or indeed CO2/NO2 mix.
Best wishes

Yes Link

However do not expect them to contain nitrogen dioxide as adverstised as it is a toxic gas aand in contact with your beer will acidify it

One hopes they only contain N

Yes, I know about those, it was the S30 type I was looking for. You know, the larger Hambledon Bard type. But thanks for the info Walleybrew.

Widget world used to do a sodastream sized gas bottle with mixed gas which i must say was quite lovely with stouts and dark beers.

Hi the gas in the cream chargers is N2O (nitrous oxide) and you may get some funny looks when buying it as it can be abused...

You can get pure nitrogen in bottles from boc buts used in welding filling racing and aircraft tyres and other industrial uses...

The widget world mixed gas look to be the favoured option...

Cheers!

You'll need an S30 adapter for it though.
Cheers

Yes I've got that clocked. Sadly though I tried to get in touch with them via their contact form and it bounced back saying, 'this email address is no longer accepting messages'.

I checked with Colchester Homebrew as I couldn't believe they were selling toxic nitrogen dioxide NO2.
They are actually 8g bulbs of Nitrous Oxide N2O (laughing gas  )

from Colchester Homebrew
Thank you for highlighting this error in our product description. I have
amended the product accordingly.

As a food additive, nitrous oxide (E942) is an allowable item that is
regularly used to bulk up cream in desserts, hence its appearance on the
creamchargers Uk website you found. It is sold by the Homebrew wholesalers
for use in attempting to add a smoother head to stouts and bitters. A larger
cylinder used to be available from Widget world, which was a Nitrogen/CO2
mix (similar to the mixtures used in commercial beer dispensing systems, but
without the specific mix proportions listed), but this has now been
withdrawn following the sale of the supplying company. The boxes containing
the Liss "Cream" bulbs that I have available quote that the contents are "
8g pure N2O (E942 nitrousoxide)" and specify that "Misuse can be dangerous
to your health. Do not inhale".

Screw the beer ! Connect them up to the inlet manifold on the car and 'abuse' them that way

If I ever get to the bar stage, my local supplier can do CO2 or N2/CO2 mix pub cylinders so i'd go with those.

Are these any good? I have the economy keg with the co2 bulb adapter on top, and have been wondering if these would produce any better results?
