Power Supply for a 24V Mini Mag pump

Post by Queequeg » Wed Feb 12, 2014 9:31 pm

I am looking for a suitable power supply for my newly purchased mini mag pump, Its 24V DC. The 12V version requires 3amp, I am waiting on a answer as to the amps for this pump but I can't see it being much different. I bought it from Homebrew builder.

I was considering a LED 24V supply, however the only one I can find that is IP44 is 2amp. The alternative would be a Laptop PSU.

I also would want a PID to control the flow rate, as the max 20L min is a bit much for vorlauf  So I was thinking of a LED dimmer switch.

Any suggestions or advice? Do you think the dimmer will be enough to adujst flow or will I also need to ballvalve the output?

Thanks

What about http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Stock-DC-1 ... 232fa76535

Also use a ball valve on the outlet to control flow rate, you don't need anything else.

If you can use a soldering iron a simple circuit based around an LM338 would do nicley

Have a look here at "the other place" to see how I did it with the same pumps: http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewt ... 23&t=46600

Thanks for the input. I particlarly like the lock n lock idea. I will probably get one of those supplies linked by 196osh and the fixtures linked by Chastuck. Thanks again
