what size flasks

having just built my stir plate I need to buy some flasks ,what size should I get.I plan to mainly split,store and grow wyeast packs and maybe later try an agur slant

I got a 2L conical from here. Cheapest I could find for the size. Arrived in good time and well packed. They have some interesting bits and pieces, if you have a browse.

Are they borosilicate, it doesn't say they are.

I stand my flask directly on the gas stove then once I'm finished with boiling I put it straight into a sink of iced water to cool it down.

I boil mine too on stove as my pressure cooker too small.

250, 500, 1L, 2L 3L and Finally 5L Well those are the sizes I use most often

I did spot a 25L . . .which wasn't all that expensive considering . . .but No way would it fit in an autoclave . . . . Trying to find one that will take a 5L is hard enough, although I think that I may just have scored on that front . . . Not cheap though

Just noticed that the Cream supplies ones say don't heat on a bare flame

These flasks can be heated - but please avoid flames touching the glass by using a fine wire gauze between the heat source and the glass.

Not sure then they are same quality as the King Scientific ones.
Like Steve I heat / boil directly on flame then when finished, after a minute or so into bowl of cold water to chill.

I have ordered 250ml,500 ml & 2 litre from a medical supplier in Athens for delivery on tuesday
my stir bar arrived today and my home made stirplate works pulled a vortex to the bottom of a 1 litre pyrex jug of water with the power supply on 10 volts if I set it at max 14 volts it was throwing water out of the jug.
just need some dme and I can try to grow my year old wyeweast smackpack

You can use wort too, I occassionally took the running out ofthe boiler into a small plastic bottle then just freeze it. Then put it in the flask and boil it, allow to cool and away you go, simples saves messing on with DME
